Cambrai’s sports policy gives to his inhabitants the capacity, whatever their age, their sex or their level, to reach the sports infrastructures, under trainers' supervision, even of professors, with the means answering the current requirements of the sport. The sports policy participates in an intensification of the citizenship, the integration, in a preservation of the health, in a prevention of the ageing and in a reduction of the disparities. These questions are in the heart of the reflection as far as any engaged action will have an impact on the targeted population.
Cambrai was the first city to set up a help facility so that the sport and the culture can be accessible to all the cambresian young people. Since 1997, the assistance grant to the sports and cultural practice provides help to the young people confronted prematurely with the reality of the social fracture. It is awarded according to the family income and allows its beneficiary to obtain a lowering of the expenses of membership to a Cambresian association. This aid exists since 1997 and addresses the Cambresian young people of less than 20 years and which can benefit from the application of the family quotient held for this device. A 85-euro grant is poured to the club in which the beneficiary is registered. Certain associations implanted in the city present many files of grant demand. 450 persons benefited from this grant during the 2009-2010 season.

Modern and adapted infrastructures
The “Liberté” aquatic sports centre In 2007, the “Liberté” swimming pool left place with the “Liberté” aquatic sports centre, a 21st century equipment. The new equipment joins to the former and now renewed pool. The aquatic sports centre offers now a large pool of 10 lanes, a playful zone with swimming against the current, slide, diving boards, paddling pool, water jets, zone of relaxation with sauna and hammam.
The swimming lanes are overhung by a stand of 300 seats ; the equipment can welcome simultaneously 1100 swimmers. On the first floor of the swimming pool a big space of 400 m² is today available ; it is intended to settle a fitness zone centred on the benefactions of the water.
The access to the reduced mobility persons was facilitated, that they are sportswomen or spectators.
The access to the stand is made by a staircase or an elevator and an adapted device allows every person with reduced mobility to reach the pool. Visual and tactile marks help the partially-sighted persons to circulate and two kennels can welcome guide dogs.
